Description:
This is my favorite bedding for kennels. In my opinion this is the best bedding for dog kennels. Grass turns to mud, hard cement, causes calluses on the dogs elbows. In late summer the cement tends to heat up so by late afternoon they are laying on a heating pad. In winter cement is frigid. I don’t think that the cedar is any harder to keep the kennel clean then washing down cement runs. I love the cedar bedding because it has so many positive attributes. Red cedar is incredibly thermal coefficient, meaning that even on hot days it tends to stay cool for the dog to lie on. Red cedar resists rot and decay so after a rain there is drainage and the dog does not get muddy. Aromatic Red Cedar not only smells good but it is a natural deterrent to insects, moths, fleas & ticks. This bedding also helps to deter dog odor. Red Cedar is a natural product that resists fungal bacteria. Most Red Cedar is a managed forest product that has controlled harvests and regeneration programs to ensure a perpetual harvest so using red cedar is not harmful to the environment. I have large outdoor kennel areas to my dog houses, in the beginning I started with 4 to 6 bags to get down a good base. Twice a year, spring and fall I freshen up the kennels by adding 2 more bags to them. These bags are compressed bails of 4 cubic feet or 16 pounds each.
